In this ear-opening episode, Rajan travels across the UK to meet with a leading police officer, who is shifting perceptions of policing within BAME communities. Without a doubt, this year has been unique with #covid_19, the #blacklivesmatter movement, tearing down of #statues, a relook at #colonialism, and in some cases, an #antipolice sentiment that has begun to take further hold since the events with #georgefloyd. But here is a question, how does our community view police officers? And is there an unregistered weight of expectation that we place upon them, especially when those police officers are from within our own cultures? It seems as a community, we are happy to celebrate diversity…pending on which profession we are represented in. I have come across many individuals within the police force and it seems the weight of expectations is heavy upon their shoulders. It’s also interesting to see the dynamic of how they are viewed in public, especially since the events that took hold in America. In today’s conversation, I will plunge you into the human factor of #globalindians serving the wider community. In this case #ukpolice.

Voyaging to the edges of the Amazon, facing Ebola in West Africa, being held hostage in Eastern Europe, tapping rubber in Malaysia, drinking chai with Heads of State and sharing laughter with local fishermen – I have been there, looking for us!
Our purpose is simple, to build a living encyclopaedia of the community and a safe mooring ground for open discussions, whether you are an NRI, Indian Diaspora, person of Indian origin (PIO) or a fan of South Asian anthropology, what we do is bring people and communities together.
We do this by plunging into the human experience of being a person of Indian origin (PIO), taking a second look at the countries we now call home and tackling the conversations we need to know more about.
Through our range of award-winning original content (print, podcasts, events and TV) and fascinating discussions, our impactful stories and platforms have spearheaded national and international conversations that have brought people together.
