Over 33 million people have been displaced, thousands have lost their lives and many more are facing an exhausting battle for survival. A lake of over 100km has engulfed crops, livestock and livelihoods. The sentient impact of the floods in Pakistan will be felt for many generations to come. In the wake of foreign aid and support comes the deeper question, how does national tragedy impact our sense of collective identity and how does it create the empathy needed to usher in a better world for all?
To help me understand the devastation on the ground and to guide me through this sensitive time, I am joined by friend and artist Syed Muhammed Imran Momina from the band Fuzon as he relays the key issues we need to know of and how you could also support a hand in positive change.
About Syed Muhammad Imran Momina:
Syed Muhammad Imran Momina AKA Emu is a multi-dimensional pianist & is one of the founding members of the band Fuzon who had been playing since the age of 19.
His flair for arranging his own music and experimenting with melodies made him set up his own recording and mixing studio — and this is where the jam sessions take place.
Technically proficient, self-tutored Fuzoneer, Emu has an array of possibilities at his disposal. Imran aka ‘Emu' is a charismatic keyboard exponent. The music stalwart that he is, Emu has an uncanny knack for orchestrating memorable music which is dominant in Fuzon's gilt-edged.
Fuzon is the brainchild of Emu & lead guitarist Shallum Xavier. The band bases its roots on experimentation and collaboration between different soundscapes and musical disciplines, hence the name ‘Fuzon’.
The biggest musical sensation to revolutionize the Pakistani & Indian music scene in the past 10 years; Fuzon has broken boundaries and records at home and abroad. Fuzon encompasses hybrid styles of exquisite melodies and everlasting pop/rock instrumentation, hence carving out a special niche for themselves.
Fuzon touched the heights of popularity with their first album Saagar, which featured 12 tracks, with a common strain of pop melodies blended with Pakistani classical and folk vocals. The opening track Aakhon Kay Saagar gave rise to their popularity within Pakistan.[1]

About the Global Indian Series:
My name is Rajan Nazran Chief Explorer for the Global Indian Series, the official platform for people of Indian origin (PIO) and liberal minds, because let’s face it, we are everywhere!
For almost 15 years I have travelled across the globe covering 60+ countries whilst exploring the kaleidoscope of our remarkable 50 shades of brown community.
Voyaging to the edges of the Amazon, facing Ebola in West Africa, being held hostage in Eastern Europe, tapping rubber in Malaysia, drinking chai with Heads of State and sharing laughter with local fishermen – I have been there, looking for us!
My purpose is simple, to build a living encyclopaedia of the human experience of the community and a safe mooring ground for open discussions, whether you are an NRI, Indian Diaspora, person of Indian origin (PIO) or a fan of South Asian anthropology, what I do is bring people and communities together.
We do this by plunging into the human experience of being a person of Indian origin (PIO), taking a second look at the countries we now call home and tackling the conversations we need to know more about.
Through our range of award-winning original content (print, podcasts, events and TV) and fascinating discussions, our impactful stories and platforms have spearheaded national and international conversations that have brought people together. Our work is featured in global brands including The Indian Express through to the CNBC network.
