In today’s episode I stay at home and reflect on 2020 and our 42nd Global Indian Podcast!
It’s been a life-changing year for most as the Covid-19 pandemic arrived quickly, quietly and everywhere. I would like to send my thoughts and prayers to everyone who has been affected by this terrible virus, and express my gratitude to frontline workers, caring for our most vulnerable in impossible circumstances. Thank you for giving your strength to so many.
What began as a hectic year travelling to Canada, USA, Guyana and St Kitts over 2 weeks in January, with an abrupt stop before I could even fly to Italy, turned out to be a cathartic and inspirational movement of minds being shared in an open forum, for all to listen, learn and unite to.
We have aurally travelled around the globe, from Uruguay to Australia, Guyana to Botswana - we are everywhere and we have learned about our journeys, our identities and our Indianness. We are set to travel to even more locations in 2021, so stay tuned!
I want to thank all of the amazing guests that have appeared on the Global Indian Podcast, who wore their hearts on their sleeves and bore all. We have created a safe mooring ground and because of this, pertinent conversations have been shared. Also a big shout out to my wife and kids, who, throughout various imposed London lockdowns, would often have to remain super quiet whenever recording; this can definitely be challenging for a 6 and 1 year old!
So to all; slowly but surely the pandemic will fade, so let’s welcome 2021 warmly. May the New Year bring good health, happiness and good fortune. Until next week!
Happy New Year.!
About the Global Indian Series:
Rajan Nazran is the chief chief explorer for the Global Indian Series, the official platform for people of Indian origin (PIO), because let's face it, we are everywhere!
For almost 15 years we have travelled across the globe covering 58 countries to date whilst exploring the kaleidoscope of our remarkable global community.
Voyaging to the edges of the Amazon, facing Ebola in West Africa, being held hostage in Eastern Europe, tapping rubber in Malaysia, drinking chai with Heads of State and sharing laughter with local fishermen - I have been there, looking for us!
Our purpose is simple, to build a living encyclopaedia of the community and a safe mooring ground for open discussions, whether you are an NRI, Indian Diaspora, person of Indian origin (PIO) or a fan of South Asian anthropology, what we do is bring people and communities together.
We do this by plunging into the human experience of being a person of Indian origin (PIO), taking a second look at the countries we now call home and tackling the conversations we need to know more about.
Through our range of award-winning original content (print, podcasts, events and TV) and fascinating discussions, our impactful stories and platforms have spearheaded national and international conversations that have brought people together.
Our work is featured in global brands including The Indian Express, OWM, Manager, ABC and many more.
