In this ear-opening episode, Rajan takes a trip to a small destination that has been at the center of conflict between India and Pakistan. Today, we meet "Ridhi". Speaking to us anonymously, she shares with us the truth behind the headlines and the devastating history of Jammu and Kashmir that many have misunderstood. Some elements of the Podcast can be disturbing - please listen with caution.
The history of J&K is one in my mind steeped with both the horrors of what division causes and the human casualty of corrupt practices from those that use religion for personal gain.
Over 100,000 Kashmiris were murdered in a genocide that caused little but a blink in the international eyes. It was caused by fundamentalists who for serving their own egos, tore apart communities for perceived religious authority. In my mind, this was not a case of Muslims v Sikh and Hindu. It was those who had the greed for power, turning on the base fears of the masses to have a sense of belonging.
There seems to be a generational shift in how many perceived Jammu and Kashmir but we also need to acknowledge that within a few short days on numerous occasions thousands of people have been displaced, families were torn apart and a murder spree began. This episode is a look into the region and discusses some of the key facts on the ground that we all need to be aware of.
Since publishing this podcast - I have received a number of threats for me to take this down. I decided that it was best to keep this up. For true freedom to exist for all, we must tackle the issues that many define their being on. The intent of this podcast is to positively take a second look at another narrative. As always this podcast does not endorse the guest's viewpoint, but simply provides and fan of publicity for a second look.
