Welcome to Suriname, a small Dutch speaking country in South America and home to a remarkable diaspora. However, despite its incredible culture and striking wildlife, economically it’s a country that has been riddled with previous turmoil, high-profile arrests, deep inflation and increasing debt.
Today I am joined by Nilesh Bishesar who has a frank discussion about the future of the nation. We tackle the obstacles for growth, the opportunities for the global diaspora and uncover the unique culture that has redefined the ideas of national prosperity.
Nilesh Bishesar is the Managing Director of Qualogy Caribbean, a subsidiary of Qualogy Netherlands, for the last 13 years. Qualogy specializes in innovative solutions for automation for both private and public sector.
Nilesh has worked in different types of industries, such as telecom, oil & gas and business consultancy for the past 20 years in the Caribbean region, Latin-America and the Netherlands. At the moment he also serves as the President of the Board of De Surinaamsche Bank, as advisor for the ICT Association until 2024 and as board member of the Suriname Business Association.
Nilesh obtained a Master's Degree in Aerospace Engineering at TU Delft in Holland and a Master's (MBA) in Competitive Strategy at the FHR Institute and Maastricht School of Management in Holland.
About the Global Indian Series:
My name is Rajan Nazran Chief Explorer for the Global Indian Series, the official platform for people of Indian origin (PIO) and liberal minds, because let’s face it, we are everywhere!
For over 15 years I have travelled across the globe deep diving into 60+ countries whilst exploring the kaleidoscope of our remarkable 50 shades of brown community.
Voyaging to the edges of the Amazon, facing Ebola in West Africa, being held hostage in Eastern Europe, tapping rubber in Malaysia, drinking chai with Heads of State and sharing laughter with local fishermen – I have been there, looking for the ideas that re-shape a nation.
My purpose is simple, to build a living encyclopaedia of the human experience of the community and a safe mooring ground for open discussions, whether you are an NRI, Indian Diaspora, person of Indian origin (PIO) or a fan of South Asian anthropology, join in as we bring people and communities together.
How to get involved:
